Ponta Do Ouro is a beautiful village nestled along the coast of the Indian Ocean. A 15 minute ferry ride from Maputo and then a two and a half hour tough but really FUN bush ride and paradise is at your doorstep. Currently tourists are mainly from South Africa as the Kosi Bay border is only 8 kilometers which makes it almost a too easy 20 minute sandy drive for them. There are loads of activities here for everyone. Diving is one of the main reasons Ponta do ouro has become famous. With over five dive schools, all can certify you with PADI, tourists from South Africa and all over the world are coming here to see the diverse reef fish to the more scary deeper down sharks. The village of Ponta also offers wild dolphin swimming with a great outfit called Dolphin Encounters...friends of the Gamboozini Lodge. Surfing lessons and Kite-Surfing lessons are available. Gamboozini Lodge can organize all of these activities as well as deep sea fishing, kayaking, quad bike rental and nature walks. There are some nice restaurants, bars and other lodges.....check out the village of Ponta through pictures:
